• Article about the caliber 300 weatherby

Weatherby. That in itself is all that needs to be said. If there is one thing that the Weatherby family is not known for it is being outdone. What they are known for is top notch quality and accuracy, and the 300 Weatherby Magnum doesn't let them down.It is the most popular of all the Weatherby innovations. The history of Weatherby began about 1940. Roy Weatherby wold change the world of firearm performance. While conventional thoughts centered upon the idea of pushing large bullets at relatively slow speeds, Roy Weatherby began experimenting with lighter weight bullets traveling at extremely high velocities. It was his belief that this combination was ideal for the flat-shooting, hard-hitting power needed to create enough hydrostatic shock to kill animals quickly and humanely. The most popular and well-known cartridge of the Weatherby line is the .300 Weatherby Magnum. At the same time, it is one of the most controversial.
The .300 Weatherby Magnum was developed in 1944 as the last of the neckt-down or improved Weatherby developments based on the 300 H&H case. The .300 Holland & Holland was first introduced in 1925 by the British firm of Holland & Holland as "Holland´s Super 30". (the .300 H&H is based on the 375 H&H case witch was developed in 1912).
The Weatherbys were the only U.S. rifles chambered for this round on a commercial basis, but it was a popular caliber among custom rifle makers. In 1989, Remington offered there model 700 Classic in .300 Wby. Mag.
Commercial .300Wby.Mag ammunition has been available since 1948, under the Weatherby label. Weatherby brand ammunition was, ant is still loaded by Norma of Sweden (1999).
By far the most popular and versatile Weatherby cartridge available. The .300 Weatherby Magnum has the flattest trajectory, longest range and the greatest killing power of any .30 caliber on the market today. The .300 Weatherby delivers 300 more fps than its British cousin and the .300 Weatherby Magnum tops the .300 Win Mag by anywhere from 50-150 fps .
Of coarce, I will let it stand alone. Weatherby has a reputation of being one of the best rifle and ammunition manufacturers in history. The .300 Weatherby Magnum utilizes more power that can be obtained through a stronger action and more powder. The .300 Weatherby Magnum can be used comfortably on any game animal that North America has to offer and at any range. The .300 Weatherby Magnum will drop anything that walks. the caliber 300 weatherby

    Rifles Chambered in .300Wby Mag

Mention the word “Weatherby” to the average hunter and chances are he’ll conjure up images of the Mark V - it’s the quintessential Weatherby and perhaps the most widely recognized rifle in the world. From the beautiful, hand-selected American walnut stock, to the critically-acclaimed Mark V action, this is ample evidence that form and function can coexist to deliver superior performance.
An Monte Carlo stock, traditional rosewood forend tip and pistol grip cap with maplewood spacers and diamond inlay. Fineline diamond point checkering provides an additional custom touch. An uncompromising rifle that remains unequaled in the field.
Magazine Capacity: 3+1 in chamber. All rifles are drilled and tapped for scope.
Nine locking lugs which are the same diameter as the bolt body itself. Compared to a two-lug design, the nine-lug Mark V action ia exceptionally smooth, non-binding, and superior in terms of overall strength and structural integrity. The nine-lug design also delivered a 54-degree bolt lift, which allowed for faster chambering on follow-up shots and a greater bolt-to-scope clearance for fewer battered knuckles. Tree gas relief holes in bolt . Today, the Mark V action is billed as “the world’s strongest bolt action,” and continues to be the cornerstone of all Weatherby rifles.

As you would guess, Weatherby still makes a lot of very fine rifles chambered in .300 Wby. Mag.
