The first time you look through a set of high end binoculars you are amazed at how much better they are than whatever you've been using before.

I went out with a laser range finder this year for the first time. It's a real eye opener (no pun intended) to see what your range estimation has been prior to KNOWING the exact distance. I had been guessing much more that what things actually were. I ranged the side of a hill and found out it was about 600 yards away. That meant a shot I made several years ago was much further than I had been estimating. And explained why when I miss it's usually by shooting over the target.
Too soon old, too late smart.
