Default New Barrel for Long Range Shooting, Brand?

    Hey all,
My cousin wants to re-barrel his 30-378 Accumark for long range shooting. I don't know why he wants/needs to re-barrel. He doesn't know if he wants to order another factory barrel from Weatherby or go custom from another maker. I told him I would ask for opinions here. I know there are a lot of long range guys here, so what do you think?

    Thanks,
    Nate

I'm not an expert on this topic but there's some good info in this thread here:

Thanks for the link, there was some good info on there.

Here's another question, for you long range guys. Are you using a factory barreled action? Or have you swapped barrels out?

I build both, all my personal long range rigs are customs now, but have seen some factory rifles with some minor work done shoot very well at 1000 yards.

For what its worth, if that 30-378 was mine it would be getting either a Hart or a Broughton , maybe a Brux barrel in 1 in 10 or possibly a 1 in 9. I would be loading 230 Gr Bergers for it to go long and have a very good brake installed like the JP Precision Tactical compensator.

Is he going back with it in 30-378?

Yes, he's keeping it a 30-378. I'll tell him your recommendations.
    Thanks,

Bartlein Barrels are another great choice.
